It's time to take a short journey through the castles and palaces near Warsaw.

Attractions and interesting places, that is castles near Warsaw

The Castle of the Mazovian Princes in Rawa Mazowiecka (Zamkowa St. 3, 96-200 Rawa Mazowiecka)

The structure with a tower was built on a quadrilateral plan measuring 66 × 64 meters in the second half of the 14th century, probably at the initiative of Prince Siemowit III or IV. The castle was of course surrounded by a moat, with a drawbridge leading across it.
The castle served important administrative and defensive functions, but its significance diminished over time. Since 1569, the quarter tax intended for the Crown army was stored here. In the 17th century, the castle was destroyed by Swedish troops, and later reconstruction attempts did not prevent its further decline. The castle was finally ruined at the end of the 18th century by Prussian troops.
Currently, the restored main tower and fragments of the walls have survived. The tower houses an archaeological and historical exhibition presenting the history of the castle and the region.

Castle in Czersk (Tysiąclecia Square 16, 05-530 Czersk)

The castle in Czersk, located on the Vistula River, is one of the oldest fortresses in Mazovia, built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries by Prince Janusz I the Elder. The castle consists of three towers, defensive walls, and a castle courtyard. It was an important administrative and military center tasked with protecting the Duchy of Czersk.

In the 16th century, the castle became the residence of Queen Bona, and in later years was a site of fights during the Swedish wars. In the 18th century, the castle fell into ruin, and today only fragments of the walls and towers remain.

The Castle of the Mazovian Princes in Ciechanów (Zamkowa St. 1, 06-400 Ciechanów)

The Castle of the Mazovian Princes in Ciechanów was erected in the second half of the 14th century by Prince Janusz I. The castle had solid defensive walls, towers, and a moat, making it an important defense point in Mazovia.

In the 16th century, the castle was modernized at the initiative of Queen Bona. Unfortunately, like many other castles, it was destroyed during the Swedish wars in the 17th century. Today, the castle is partially reconstructed and open for visitation.

However, remember to check the opening days and hours before visiting. It often happens that museums are closed on Mondays and in the winter season are only open for a few hours during the day.
