The Masovian Voivodeship is mainly associated with Warsaw. However, between Radom, Płock, Ciechanów, and Siedlce, there are tourist attractions worth recommending.

The Masovian Voivodeship is the largest in Poland. You won't find mountains here. Instead, there are forests, lakes, inland dunes, and the valleys of the Vistula, Narew, and Wkra rivers. It's a good base for peaceful sightseeing, walking, and cycling trips. This list includes places from different parts of the Masovian Voivodeship.

Masovian Voivodeship interesting tourist attractions

The Masovian Voivodeship covers over 35,000 km². That's more than ten times the area of Warsaw. Besides the capital, important centers include Radom, Płock, Siedlce, Ostrołęka, Ciechanów, and Żyrardów.

The Vistula flows through the region. Also, there are the Narew, Bug, Wkra, Pilica, and Bzura rivers. There are many riverine areas, oxbow lakes, and pine forests. Between them lie villages with wooden buildings, former health resorts, and small towns with markets and churches.

Within the Masovian Voivodeship, you will find landscape parks and nature reserves, as well as interesting architectural examples: from wooden summer villas to brick factories and university buildings.

Świdermajer Trail in Otwock

Świdermajers are wooden, richly decorated summer villas that have been growing along the railway line from Warsaw to Otwock since the late 19th century. This style was born after the railway started operating when the Świder area became a fashionable summer resort for Warsaw residents. Openwork verandas, carved balustrades, glazed porches – a bit like small guesthouses from a former spa town.

The Świdermajer Architecture Trail runs through Otwock and nearby towns. It is a black hiking trail loop about 27 km long. You can walk it entirely or choose just a section near the train station and combine it with a shorter walk along the Świder River.
